    Replacement Cylinder

    Jul 10, 2024
Was an easy process to order when calling. Cylinder was shipped pretty fast and had it within a week. It was packaged well to protect the ends. It was a stock replacement and appeared to be made by the same manufacturer that made the lift (Tuxedo). Redline offered the best price shipped to my location. Would do business again. Thanks

    Q. I have a twin post Kernel mod #165948. I have one cylinder leaking and need to take it out. The piston rod is bolted at the bottom, and the housing attached at the top. Do I need to raise the lift up & lock in place to relieve the pressure to remove the cylinder??? Thanks, Bill
    A. Bear in mind that if you raise the lift any distance at all, then it is no longer at its lowest position, which means the weight of the cylinder will be pushing downward and create hydraulic pressure. Removing the hydraulic hoses with the lift raised at all will create a massive mess, because the fluid will begin spraying outward as the cylinder lowers. You might consider raising the carriage to the first lock, locking it in place, unbolting it from the bottom, and then lower the carriage and remove the cylinder.

    Q. Is the shaft threaded for a 4 wire plate and large nut?
    A. We asked Kernel your question and they said, "I would need more information about the customer’s lift to be able to give a better response, but we do sell 4 post storage lift cylinders that are threaded for the plate they describe."

    Q. WHAT IS THE TOTAL LENGTH OF CYLINDER WHEN IT IS FULLY EXTENDED.AND THIS IS FOR A 4 POST LIFT
    A. For the non-XLT cylinder, the cylinder barrel measures 79 ¾” from the center of the clevis (where it is mounted under the runway) to the end of the barrel. The threaded rod is 2 5/8” beyond that and the barrel is 3 ½” outside diameter. I hope this helps!

    Q. Hi , is the travel 47" on this ram
    A. We asked Kernel and were told it was 74" and 80" of stroke length for the regular and XLT 8K lift cylinder, respectively speaking. Thanks John!
